Golf
There are three golf courses nearby at Okehampton, Moretonhampstead and Ashbury all of which are an easy drive.
Fishing
Coarse fishing lakes include: Alder, Anglers Paradise, Hidden Valley, Legge, South Reed and Spire’s. River fishing can be enjoyed on the Tamar, Tavyn, Taw and & Torridge.
Sea fishing can be arranged at Teignmouth, Plymouth, Looe and Bideford. You can expect to catch mackerel, conger, shark amongst others.
Cycling
The Tarka trail starting from Meeth, just 10 minutes away, runs all the way to Torrington and Bideford. You can stop for refreshment at the East Yard Cafe and will find plenty of places to eat, drink, rest and shop in Torrington and Bideford. You can take your own bike or hire locally.
The granite way:
The 12km route links Okehampton to Lydford, in the west
of the county, and is called The Granite Way. Along the route, there are
views of Meldon Viaduct, the Meldon Lake, Okehampton Castle, and across
the moors. Look one way, and you can see as far as Exmoor: look the other
way, and you can just about pick out Bodmin Moor in the distance. And
then there’s magical Dartmoor . . . which is at the heart of this
route.

Mountain biking is available in nearby Abbeyford woods with a perpose built track.
There are also miles of deserted local roads just around the corner to explore on a quiet summer afternoon by bike or on foot.
Water Sports
At Roadford Lake and Meldon Lake (both just 10 minutes away) you can sail, waterski, windsurf and canoe, either on your own or under instruction. They are also a great place just to relax and watch the fun.
Walking
The peace and beauty of Dartmoor is envigorating no matter what the time of year. Over 60 square miles of varied moorland is to be explored, including granite tors, heather covered hillside and quaint pubs and cafe's along the way.
Ruby Country’s landscape provides some of the most varied and accessible countryside in the South West of England.
